My post FaceBook release party thoughts!

My post FaceBook Release Party thoughts:

Wow! It’s taken me pretty much the whole weekend to settle down from my first book release! Not because of crazy sales but because it was a whirlwind of keeping up with social media, in addition the facebook party was incredible! Thank you to everyone who came and supported me, I have to say that regardless of how late we finished, 1 am and beyond for me, it made my release day really special. All the authors who took part, and all the people that made an effort to attend (some of you I know were awake in the wee hours of your own mornings) were utterly fabulous!! I really did appreciate all your efforts and company!

Young Adult Fantasy Book Giveaway and More-

All the giveaways from me have been drawn and all but 2 sent. The fantasy book haul giveaway was drawn vis Rafflecopter at the facebook party and the winner informed. I believe Kelly Oram, JA Culican , Katy Haye and JZN McCauley ( all young adult and new adult authors) have all closed their giveaway posts now too. Thank you so much to them for their support and encouragement over the past months. They are amazing people!

A Bond of Venom and Magic-

ABOVAM is getting some wonderful reviews. If you are unsure what genre ABOVAM fits in, it is a young adult fantasy, full of fae warriors and magic, with dragons lurking in the background. If you love SJ Maas or Cassandra Clare you will likely enjoy this young adult read.  I am editing the second book in the series as we speak! Exciting stuff!
Book 2- A Bond of Blood and Fire will be released March/April time, 2017. I can’t wait to begin sharing excerpts. ARCs will be available towards March time. If you are interested in reading an ARC, join my mailing list and be one of the first to see the sign up form! You also get the first 5 chapters of #ABOVAM free!!

My thoughts for other authors…

I was asked by a colleague whether or not I thought doing a Facebook party was a successful venture and would I do it again? My answer? Yes. I absolutely would do it again. After 4 years of hard work it would have been an anti-climax to spend the day with no interaction with readers; people who have reviewed ABOVAM and supported me as an author, therefore my answer has to be, yes.

It is without doubt a lot of effort. The organisation started months ago. Organising a time that is acceptable to authors and readers from around the world is an interesting feat. It is expensive, or has been for me, but that was my choice because of the amount of giveaways I chose to do and where I am shipping them to. E-books and giftcards do not incur such charges consequently that is something to consider when deciding on the type of gift you want to pledge. I was asked about book sales and if it increased them, my conclusion is..I have no idea! I seriously doubt it as my post release sales are not impressive, but sales is not why I ran the party. I am a new author who has to gain the trust of readers before they will buy my book, therefore I think offering a sample is a reasonable way for people to see if ABOVAM is their type of book. A try before you buy…if you like.

As a result of the party I have gained some new fabulous members to my street team and have added a few more people to my mailing list, however the real success for me was sharing my special day with others who love reading, not just my book but any books. It was great fun and I absolutely will be doing it again for book 2. I hope you will join me!!

If you are organising a Facebook party or ‘author takeover’ as they are otherwise known, and have any questions feel free to email me on email@karentomlinson.com

Thanks once again everyone for your support. I hope you enjoy reading #ABOVAM when you choose it off your TBR’s!!
